Gonzaga High School Inaugurates New Classrooms Amid Future Expansion Plans
The new four classrooms of the state high school “Francesco Gonzaga” were inaugurated yesterday morning, in the presence of the provincial councilor for school building, Pedrazzoli, the mayor Sigurtà, and the municipal councilor for Education, Bertoli.
New classrooms and future plans
The classes, which host the two-year program of Accounting, were created within the old auditorium. This is in anticipation of constructing a new external auditorium next year for student assemblies.
The space shortages became evident with the creation of the ITC within the Licei, and with the increase, over a five-year period, of nearly 200 students.
Reactions and institutional interventions
Great satisfaction expressed by the school principal, Serafino Massoni, and the president of the School Council, Mario Ferrari, who recalled the interprovincial significance and dignity of the “Gonzaga” school hub, where students come from throughout the surrounding area.
Mayor Sigurtà, after thanking the provincial administration for the intervention, stated: “This is the first step towards solving the school’s space problems. In 2001, a 700-seat auditorium will be built, also thanks to the prompts from the council and Councilor Bertoli.”
“Our school hub must become a model, not just in Mantovano,” he added.
Funding and upcoming works
In front of the student representatives and Principal Massoni, the head of school construction, Pedrazzoli, confirmed that allocations for Gonzaga in the 2001 budget are official: “The Region has funded 600 million lira, which the Gualtieri administration decided to divert to Castiglione, and there are another 600 million lira provided directly by our entity; finally, your Municipality will allocate 300 million.”
Hence, a total of 1.5 billion lira for the construction of an auditorium with 700 seats, among the few in the area, with works potentially starting already next summer, according to provincial technicians.
Future prospects and expansions
According to the municipal councilor for public education, Giuseppe Bertoli, a virtuous mechanism has been triggered that, after solving the primary space issues for the Accounting classrooms, will lead to the creation of a main hall and pave the way for further expansions of the institution.
