The 55th Palio del Groppello took place on November 30 at the Cantina Franzosi in Puegnago, marking an important celebration for enthusiasts of local food and wine. During the event, organized by the historic Confraternity of Groppello, Cantina Franzosi triumphed after a second vote was necessary due to a tie in the first round. The other finalists were Cantine Due Pini and Scolari. The evening also featured the presentation of the Confraternity’s anthem, composed by singer-songwriter Piergiorgio Cinelli at the request of President Massimo Claudio Piergentili.
Additionally, during the ceremony, certificates of excellence were awarded in various categories outside the Palio. Among the winners were the classic white method 100% Pasini San Giovanni and the sparkling wine Bollicine from Cantina Scolari. In the category of pure Groppello, the Bottinus vintage 2022 was awarded in the Riserva category, and the Vista Lago 2016 received recognition for the Gran Riserva. The event highlighted the importance of winemaking tradition in the region and celebrated the commitment of local wineries to promote this indigenous wine.
