A young climber, aged 30, experienced moments of terror during a climb on the Zebra Slabs in the Alto Garda region, where he was injured due to a sudden rockfall. The incident occurred while the climber, roped together with a partner, was tackling the route “46th Parallel.” A rock struck the young man in the side, causing him severe pain and making it impossible to continue the ascent. His partner promptly alerted the rescue services.
In a short time, a helicopter from the health service took off from Riva del Garda, transporting a technician from the Mountain Rescue team to the cliff face. Fortunately, the two climbers managed to reach a safe area at the belay of the first pitch, where they were assisted by the rescuers. After receiving initial treatment on the rock face, the injured climber was stabilized and loaded onto the helicopter for transfer to the hospital in Rovereto, while his partner was left at the landing zone.
