A new era of high-tech surveillance is emerging at the construction sites of the High-Speed Rail project, spanning the 50 kilometers of the AV/AC Brescia Est–Verona railway line. The Cepav Due consortium, commissioned by Rete Ferroviaria Italiana and in collaboration with the multinational Saipem, has launched an innovative project that employs a fleet of nine drones operating in BVLOS (Beyond Visual Line of Sight) mode. These drones are equipped with advanced technologies to ensure continuous monitoring of construction sites and sensitive areas, both day and night, aiming to reduce theft and vandalism.
The surveillance system is supported by tools such as anti-tampering sensors and multi-technology cameras, all coordinated by a Security Control Room through the PSIM (Physical Security Information Management) platform. This integration allows for the georeferencing of data from the drones and sensors, optimizing interaction with law enforcement. Thanks to this new approach, a significant 80% reduction in emergency response times is anticipated, marking a decisive step forward for the security of strategic infrastructures in the Basso Garda region.
