An important initiative for the safety of bathers has been announced with the launch of the hydro-ambulance by the Italian Red Cross, which will operate along the Veronese shore of Lake Garda. Starting in July and August, the service will be available daily from 10 AM to 6 PM in the municipalities of Bardolino, Peschiera, Castelnuovo, Lazise, Garda, Torri del Benaco, Brenzone, and Malcesine. Thanks to an agreement between these municipalities and the Bardolino Baldo Garda Odv Committee of the Red Cross, this project represents a groundbreaking development for an Italian lake and aims to ensure timely interventions in case of aquatic emergencies.
The hydro-ambulance will depart from Bardolino and will be staffed by a specialized crew of four members, including a nurse and two trained operators for water rescue. This medical vessel will not only patrol the waters but will also be able to intervene on land if necessary. With a maximum speed of 50 knots, the hydro-ambulance will allow responders to bypass traffic on the Gardesana during rescue operations. The service has been presented to the local community as part of a collective effort to enhance the quality of tourist services and ensure greater safety for bathers during the summer season.
