Il Grimm’s 2001 Missionary Agenda Highlights Decades of Global Outreach
Il Grimm (Missionary Engagement Group) of Esenta di Lonato recently presented “What Color Is God’s Skin”, an original missionary agenda for 2001 that offers volunteers an opportunity to review their three decades of activity in the field of international cooperation and solidarity.
Flipping through the pages, readers can trace the various activities carried out by Il Grimm across different countries on three continents, including Albania, Brazil, Ivory Coast, Ecuador, Kenya, Mozambique, Central African Republic, Rwanda, Tanzania, Zaire, and Zambia.
Throughout these projects, the group has built homes, churches, reception centers, clinics, missions, schools, colleges, boarding schools, hospitals, convents, reception centers, providing an increasing number of people with the chance to have a meaningful experience in a mission land, engaging in manual work on construction sites.
The work is organized in shifts lasting approximately one month. Each team includes specific skilled professionals according to the needs of each site (masons, carpenters, plumbers, woodworkers, electricians, general laborers, and helpers) and an adequate number of women as cooks.
The diary is also accompanied by numerous photographs of children met by the group’s operators during their various activities in the countries of the global south.
The purpose and contacts of the group
“The agenda,” explains Father Serafino Ronchi, parish priest of the district and spokesperson for Il Grimm, “was created to show how missionary solidarity is invested. It will also serve as a link between over 400 volunteers involved in work camps and 600 families practicing remote adoption. It aims to motivate everyone to keep the interest alive for the world’s poor.”
