A health scare in the water affected a 20-year-old man today, Thursday, May 1st, around 5:45 PM, at the Sabbioni beach in Riva del Garda. The young man had jumped into the lake to retrieve a ball when he experienced a health issue, likely caused by the temperature shock between the cold water and the warm summer air. His friends, who were on the beach, quickly intervened to assist him.
Emergency medical services responded promptly, with personnel from the 118 already on-site for the ongoing Bike Festival. The young man was stabilized and transported by helicopter for further medical care. This incident highlights the importance of swimming safety, especially during the early days of warm weather when water temperatures can still be low.
