Starting from October 29, 2024, small and medium-sized enterprises can submit applications to access the incentives provided by the Brevetti+ 2024 program, an initiative promoted by the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy. This initiative aims to economically enhance patents, with a total financial availability of 20 million euros.

Details on the Incentives

The incentives offered through the program consist of a non-repayable grant that can reach up to 140,000 euros, covering up to 80% of eligible costs. These resources will also be available for new SMEs, provided they have their legal and operational headquarters in Italy and meet at least one of the following criteria:

  • Be the holder or licensee of a patent for industrial invention granted in Italy after January 1, 2023.
  • Be the holder of a national patent application filed after January 1, 2022, accompanied by a research report with a “non-negative” outcome.
  • Be the holder of a patent granted by the EPO (European Patent Office) and validated in Italy after January 1, 2023.
  • Submit a European or international patent application filed after January 1, 2022, also with a favorable research report, claiming priority from a previous national application.

Greater Benefits for Certain Companies

For companies that demonstrate gender equality certification, the grant can increase to 85% of eligible costs. Additionally, companies that are co-holders, together with a public research institution, of the application or the granted patent can benefit from 100% of eligible expenses.

Fundable Services

The contribution is intended for the purchase of the following specialized services:

  • Design, engineering, and industrialization.
  • Organization and development.
  • Technology transfer.

The management of this measure is entrusted to Invitalia, which operates on behalf of the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy. Interested SMEs are encouraged to prepare for the submission of applications by carefully following the guidelines provided in the official announcement.
