The Municipality of Lonato del Garda is preparing to celebrate the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women with a series of events aimed at raising public awareness on this crucial issue. The initiatives, scheduled for the coming weeks, encompass various areas, from culture to equal opportunities, and aim to shed light on the multiple forms of gender-based violence.

On November 22, at 8:30 PM, the “Un Altro Modo per Dirlo” event will take place in the Celesti Hall of the Town Hall. This forum theater event addresses inclusive language and violence prevention. This theatrical format allows participants to actively engage with the situations presented, transforming spectators into “spect-actors” and stimulating a deep reflection on the mechanisms of violence.

Two significant events are planned for the afternoon of Sunday, November 24. At 4:00 PM, the municipal administration will gather around the red bench in Piazza Matteotti for a moment of shared reflection, involving some students from the Paola di Rosa High School. Following this, at 5:00 PM, there will be a concert in the Celesti Hall as part of the “Suoni e Sapori del Garda” Festival, where Silvia Sesenna (keyboard), Paola Quagliata, and Ilaria Italia (vocals) will perform pieces by composers such as Handel and Mozart, highlighting the female contribution to music.

The series dedicated to the fight against violence towards women will culminate on Saturday, November 30, with the theatrical performance “Bambine Care,” produced by the Sineddoche Teatro company. This work is inspired by the lives of girls who lived in a former female orphanage in Montichiari between the 1940s and 1960s. Through the stories of the elderly residents of the Fratelli Marazzi orphanage, the performance explores complex themes related to abandonment and resilience.

Mayor Roberto Tardani emphasized the importance of education as a fundamental tool in the fight against violence: “Educating and reflecting on combating violence is essential for recognizing the underlying mechanisms.” Maria Anelli, the Councilor responsible for active policies for Equal Opportunities, also highlighted the value of culture in promoting positive messages regarding mutual respect.

This initiative is part of the broader context of the “Suoni e Sapori del Garda” Festival, a cultural project aimed at enhancing the artistic beauty of the region through engaging musical and theatrical events. The Garda Community is actively participating in organizing the event with the goal of creating a strong cultural network among the municipalities overlooking the lake.

These activities not only represent an important moment for reflecting on the condition of women in contemporary society but also provide significant insights for promoting a culture of non-violence from a young age.
