Italian Soldiers in the SS: MAG Opens Exhibition on September 6
A new exhibition opens at the Museo Alto Garda in Riva del Garda on Sunday, 6 September at 5:30 pm: “Italiani nelle SS 1943-1945 Autori/Esecutori,” focusing on the role of Italians in the Italian SS Legion and the German Waffen-SS. The show will remain on view until 3 October 2026.
Curated by Gianfranco Ceccanei and promoted by ANPI Alto Garda e Ledro in collaboration with the association Riccardo Pinter, the exhibition was conceived by the Carlo Levi association in Berlin. The documentary route is designed to prompt reflection on the republican democracy and the “anti-fascist Constitution,” with particular attention to students and the wider public.
The opening event includes performances by the Carlo Levi association choir, featuring songs of deportees, and the screening of a film about partisan Riccardo Goruppi. The program continues on Monday, 7 September, with a screening of a documentary on the massacre of Italian Military Internees in Treuenbrietzen. Participation is free and does not require booking.
