An incident occurred this morning in Padenghe, where a jet ski sank with two tourists on board who were headed towards Sirmione. The emergency situation arose around 9:00 AM when the driver contacted 112 to report that the vessel was taking on water and was approximately 1.8 kilometers from the shore. According to the regulations of the recreational boating code, vessels such as jet skis are not permitted to navigate more than one mile from the coast, making the situation particularly critical.
The Coast Guard promptly dispatched two patrol boats to the scene of the incident, coordinated by the Operations Room in Salò. The CP 605, already on patrol in the area, was the first to reach the castaways, rescuing them in good condition and bringing them to shore without the need for medical assistance. Additionally, the operators managed to save the jet ski just before it completely sank. This episode highlights the importance of always having a mobile phone available to contact 112 NUE in case of emergencies at sea.
