Kitchen fire in Sirmione: 85-year-old dies in the flames
A tragic kitchen fire occurred on Tuesday evening in Colombare, involving 85-year-old Silvana Bettanini. While preparing dinner for her son, with whom she lived on Via IV Novembre, a sudden flare-up from the stove engulfed the woman, causing burns to 90% of her body. Neighbors, alarmed by her screams, immediately called the fire department and an ambulance. Due to the severity of her injuries, air ambulance assistance was requested, and Silvana was transported to the Civile hospital in Brescia.
Despite the doctors’ efforts, the elderly woman passed away on Wednesday afternoon after a day of agony. Silvana Bettanini was known in the community as the widow of Bruno Parolini, a highly regarded alpine soldier who passed away in 2021. She leaves behind her grieving children: Stefania, Roberta, Fabio, and Bruno.
