Krampus Descent in Pieve di Tremosine: Folklore and Tradition
Horror atmospheres have taken over the Pieve di Tremosine during the descent of the Krampus, an event that celebrates the traditions of South Tyrolean folklore. This reenactment took place on the afternoon of Sunday, December 7, coinciding with the local festival organized by the Pro Loco, dedicated to polenta cusa. From 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM, the eerie demonic creatures paraded through the streets of the historic center, enchanting an amused and fascinated crowd, enveloped in smoke that enhanced the evocative atmosphere. The event drew attention to a tradition that tells how the Krampus accompany Saint Nicholas on the night of December 5 to symbolically punish disobedient children. The active participation of the community and the involvement of numerous visitors made this event a success, helping to keep alive an important part of the local cultural heritage.
