Lonato del Garda is set to welcome grand opera once again, renewing its established partnership with the musical association “La Bottega della Lirica” for the staging of “La Bohème” by Giacomo Puccini. This event, a highlight in the local news, will take place on Wednesday, July 23, at 8:45 PM in the enchanting setting of the Visconti-Venetian Fortress. This collaboration is part of the community’s commitment to promoting and enhancing the art of opera, offering the audience of Lago di Garda a high-level cultural experience.

A Stage for New Operatic Talents

The production of “La Bohème” will feature young artists selected through the spring auditions of the Lirico Competition “Lonato all’Opera.” This project, sponsored by the Municipality, aims to train and provide performance opportunities for promising new voices. All the leading roles of the opera will be portrayed, from Mimì to Rodolfo, Musetta, Marcello, Colline, Schaunard, Benoît, and Alcindoro. Among the artists taking the stage is the local soprano Alessia Panza, who will play the role of Mimì alongside her colleague Nao Takeuchi. A distinctive element of this performance will also be the participation of the Musical Corps of Lonato del Garda, which will contribute with trumpets, flutes, and drums, as specified in the original score of the opera.

Artistic Direction and Innovative Staging

For this year’s edition, the artistic direction will be entrusted to Maestro Anna Brandolini. The staging will be overseen by Maestro Roberto Scandiuzzi, recognized as one of the finest basses in the international operatic scene. In October 2024, Maestro Scandiuzzi was awarded the title of Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French Minister of Culture, in recognition of his illustrious career in France and around the world. His directorial vision will present a contemporary interpretation of the theme of youth, exploring the emotions that drive it across different eras. The directorial choices have indeed been inspired by today’s society, creating a current setting.

Information and Ticket Pre-sales

Reservations are already open, and tickets can be purchased directly through the website of La Bottega della Lirica. In the event of adverse weather conditions, the performance will be postponed to the following evening, Thursday, July 24, 2025.
