An important initiative of charity swimming has recently come to life, culminating in the creation of the documentary “Swim the Garda,” which narrates the epic swim crossing by the Umbrian doctor and swimmer Marco Fratini. Starting from the Canottieri of Salò, Fratini covered an impressive distance of 140 kilometers around the Lake Garda, completing the feat in under 65 hours. The premiere of the film took place today, May 3rd, at the “Sala Modena” during the Trento Film Festival, a prestigious event dedicated to mountain and adventure cinema.
The project not only celebrates a sporting triumph but also carries a profound social significance, as it was designed to raise funds for various charitable organizations, including Aism and Aido. Through breathtaking imagery, the documentary provides an in-depth look at the preparation and challenges faced by Fratini during his extraordinary endeavor. With approximately 115,000 strokes performed in freestyle, “Swim the Garda” represents a story of passion and determination that engages not only the athlete but also the entire local community.
