Recent inspections by the Guardia di Finanza have uncovered a significant phenomenon of undeclared work in the Lake Garda area, involving numerous tourist activities. During operations conducted over the past few weeks, 29 workers were identified as working illegally and 6 were found to be irregular. Additionally, two businesses were suspended due to tax violations and non-compliant hiring practices. Furthermore, 36 instances of failure to issue tax documents were recorded, and undeclared earnings totaling €85,000 were discovered, linked to unregistered rentals of a bed & breakfast.
The inspections also revealed the presence of illegally marketed products, including approximately 5 kg of shisha tobacco. In collaboration with the Customs and Monopolies Agency, the illegal sale of alcohol to minors was reported, along with other irregularities that could jeopardize public health. The Guardia di Finanza has announced that these inspections will continue throughout the summer season, aiming to ensure fair competition in the tourism sector and protect workers’ rights.
