Lake Garda Scammers Impersonate Police for Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant owners around Lake Garda’s middle and upper areas, proposing subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, depending on the occasion, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often offer subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect being targeted by individuals who, after collecting money, disappear without a trace.
