Scammers Impersonate Carabinieri to Target Garda Area Business Owners

They impersonate carabinieri when calling hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurant owners in the mid and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions from the Carabinieri.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to finance, the police, firefighters, or local police officers.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those with no connection to law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be cautious and immediately notify the actual carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you’ve been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
