Lake Garda Scammers Pose as Carabinieri to Trick Local Businesses

They pose as carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurateurs around Lake Garda, proposing magazine subscriptions from the Carabinieri.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to be affiliated with the financial police, the police, the fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to respond

They often offer subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, be vigilant and immediately notify the carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after obtaining the money, disappear without a trace.
