Lake Garda Scammers Pose as Police to Sell Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs around Lake Garda’s medium and upper areas, offering subscriptions to military magazines.

These are not military personnel, but scammers who, on different occasions, claim to belong to financial police, regular police, fire brigade, or municipal police.

Beware of scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to non-existent magazines or publications unrelated to law enforcement agencies.

So be cautious and immediately notify the Carabinieri — simply dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after collecting the money, disappear.
