Lake Garda Tops Veneto for Tourist Satisfaction in Food Quality
Foreign tourists visiting Lake Garda are the most satisfied overall in Veneto regarding the quality of food offered by local restaurants. This result comes from a study conducted by Mario Gallon on behalf of the Regione Veneto, Padovafiere, and Fipe (Italian Federation of Public Exercise Establishments), and was presented yesterday by the regional assessore for economy and tourism, Floriano Fra. The presentation coincided with the unveiling of the event “Tecnobar e Food,” a professional fair for public establishments, hotels, and communities, scheduled from today until February 2nd at the Padova fairgrounds.
Importance of the restaurant industry in Veneto tourism
The culinary sector continues to be a key factor contributing to Veneto’s position as Italy’s top tourist region, with 55 million overnight stays. The quality of Venetian cuisine is highly appreciated, and the foreign tourists, having learned to value local wines and dishes, return partly because they enjoy “being taken for the palate.”
Survey results on tourists
The survey was carried out on a sample of around one thousand tourists between July and October 1999, across four representative areas of Venetian tourism offerings: Jesolo, Venice, Abano Terme, and Lake Garda. Pra has expressed satisfaction with the results but also mentioned that the restaurant industry should develop, alongside traditional full meals, more practical and modern formats, as seen in other countries, to better meet the growing needs of diverse customer segments.
Quality and services at Lake Garda
Lake Garda ranks as the top destination for the choice and quality of dishes served, with excellence scores for wine offerings (7.61) and courteous service staff (7.74). The high-quality level of the restaurant services is matched by appropriate pricing, and public venues are also appreciated for their punctuality in displaying prices at the entrance and on tables (score 7.42).
