Lake Garda Tourism Outlook 2023: Stable Growth and Evolving Attractions
What will the tourist season on Lake Garda look like just a few weeks before the major Easter holiday? According to early estimates—based on incoming bookings and trends observed at major sector fairs across Northern Europe—the spring-summer 2001 season is expected to at least match last year’s attendance, if not exceed it.
Promising prospects, it was said, also for the upcoming season. This belief is shared by Antonio Pasotti, head of the tourism sector at the Comunità del Garda. “We do not have major concerns on this front,” he states, “thanks to the careful pricing policies implemented by Garda tourist operators over the past few years; rather, we have some apprehensions about unpredictable and undesirable events, such as the sudden closure of the Gardesana highway.”
Those choosing Lake Garda for their holidays must find efficient transport, modern and functional infrastructure, cultural, artistic, and sporting attractions of high quality, and above all, a strong entrepreneurial spirit starting from basic manners of education and courtesy.
The tourism system is changing rapidly; think that the Comunità website has attracted over 3 million visitors and about 9 million pages have been read. Therefore, we must be ready to present a unified image of Garda worldwide,” he emphasizes.
Environmental Situation and Cultural Demand
Despite the excellent health of the Lake Garda waters, it is clear that the era of tourism solely focused on sunbathing and swimming is over. Visitors now seek cultural offerings, leisure activities, sports, entertainment, and good cuisine.
