The environmental campaign Goletta dei Laghi 2025 has revealed alarming results regarding the water quality in Lombardy, with monitoring conducted at 32 sites showing that 15 of them are heavily polluted, 2 are polluted, and only 15 are within legal limits. Although there is a slight improvement compared to 2024, the current data is worse than that of 2023, a year characterized by more favorable conditions due to drought. The results were presented on June 27 in Milan by Legambiente, with particular attention given to critical points in the Brescia area, such as the mouth of the Calchere stream in Sulzano and the municipal overflow in Pisogne.

On the Lombard shore of Lake Garda, four out of six monitored points are found to be heavily polluted. Barbara Meggetto, president of Legambiente Lombardia, emphasized the urgency of implementing structured policies to protect the health of aquatic ecosystems. According to Meggetto, local administrations must intensify investments in wastewater treatment and the integrated water cycle to tackle the issue of lake pollution, which is essential for the economy and well-being of local communities.
