Last Strip of Venetian Land: Perantoni’s Local History Book Presentation

This evening at 8:30 PM, the book by Giovanni Battista Perantoni titled «Last Strip of Venetian Land» will be presented at the parish youth center in Pacengo. The posthumous work recounts the origins, history, customs, and traditions of the small hamlet of Pacengo.

Publication Details and Content

A publication developed in two phases and printed more than ten years after Perantoni’s death, a native of Pacengo with a deep attachment to his land. The author conducted meticulous research through archival documents and libraries, and as late as 1976, he had published parts of his work in several booklets.

A glimpse into local history that, rightly, his daughter Mimma and her husband Sergio Bazerla decided to review and compile, «gifting» the lacustrine community a text to be treasured in the family library.

Book Structure and Contents

Divided into about ten chapters, the book, enriched with some vintage photographs, concludes with a series of traditions related to folklore and popular customs that have long been forgotten.

A way to bring young people closer to their grandparents’ world and, at the same time, appreciate the simplicity of life in the past. «Last Strip of Venetian Land» will be presented this evening by Giampaolo Rizzetto, journalist for L’Arena and a well-known researcher of prehistoric and protohistoric Verona.

The book is available for purchase at the newsstands around Garda.
