A serious incident occurred in Lazise, where a two-year-old child was found unconscious in the pool of a villa within the “Residenza Costa del Sole” complex in Pacengo. The event, which took place on the evening of Saturday, June 28, saw the child’s parents act quickly, calling for help after discovering him underwater. Upon the arrival of medical personnel, the child was already in cardiac arrest and, thanks to immediate intervention, he was resuscitated and urgently transported to Verona Borgo Trento Hospital, where he is currently in critical condition.
The mayor of Lazise, Damiano Bergamini, expressed his sorrow over the incident and announced the local administration’s intention to organize swimming courses to prevent similar childhood tragedies. This tragic event is set against a worrying backdrop: in 2023, a similar situation had already been reported nearby, when another child died following a comparable accident. Authorities are now investigating the safety of local pools and the role of lifeguards to ensure safety in bathing areas.
