Lazise Restaurateurs Promote Local Cuisine at International Events

The restaurateurs of Lazise have appointed a young and eclectic restaurateur, passionate about culture, history, and resistance, to lead their trade association. Sante Pasqualini was therefore unhesitating to accept a clear and unified proposal from the members of the Lazise-based association, which brings together the best in hospitality and gastronomy.

The New Term and the Council Members

For the upcoming three-year period, Pasqualini’s skilled and professional leadership will oversee the promotion of local cuisine and fine dining in Lazise, as well as for the entire Italian and international tourist community centered around Lazise. Assisting Pasqualini are Sergio Bertoldi as vice president and Franco Magnani as secretary. The councilors include Roberto Campagnari, Laura Lucchi, Renato Azzi, and Teresa Ferri.

The Initial Events and Activities

The first external engagement of the association was to prepare the opening buffet for the international honey exhibition, which was widely applauded and appreciated by many Italian and foreign guests attending the grand event dedicated to bees and the sweet nectar.

The Lazise restaurateurs also participated in the celebration of the town’s patron saint, San Martino, serving the typical dish of the lake: risotto with tench. The association’s chefs also prepared other local delicacies characteristic of the lake and were available to guests throughout the day.

Participation in International Events and Promotion of Traditions

Today, the association is present in Bavaria “for the usual meeting with the Rosenheim twins,” explains President Sante Pasqualini. “With a highly qualified team. We have everything necessary to offer our Bavarian counterparts a range of ancient dishes, recipes of old flavors that have fallen out of use, yet still preserve a unique and unrepeatable essence of taste.

Additionally, we exhibited at the Cibus fair in Parma. These two venues, Bavaria and Parma, provide opportunities to showcase our gastronomic specialties across Europe—especially the humble, traditional ones. Ultimately, these are the most authentic, because in Lazise, gastronomic tourism is flourishing, attracting visitors eager to taste the best products the lake has to offer.”

Contacts Abroad and Future Perspectives

Finally, the Lazise restaurateurs are establishing contacts with colleagues from nearby Austria. Not coincidentally, Austria is “close” to Lazise—not just geographically, but also through the frequent visits by Austrians to the lake areas.

In fact, Lazise is one of the most beloved destinations among Austrians. Soon, thanks to the efforts of the restaurateurs and their dishes, a true twinning will be solidified between the cuisine across the Alps and Lazise’s genuine, authentic flavors.
