Lega Bill Seeks Guardia Costiera Role in Lake Garda Rescue Operations
The nautical team of the police, the Carabinieri, and the Guardia di Finanza all contribute to ensuring safety on Lake Garda. But what is still missing – this is the thesis put forward by the mayor and Lega member Umberto Chincarini – is rather an entity with the institutional role of rescue operations on the lake. For this reason, Chincarini, in his capacity as a parliamentarian, has submitted as the lead signatory a bill. The draft law requests that, similar to the existing arrangements for the sea, the coordination of rescue operations for human life in internal waters, especially for the lakes of Garda, Como, and Maggiore, be entrusted to the Corpo delle Capitanerie di Porto – Guardia Costiera. The General Commander, Admiral Eugenio Sicurezza, has already taken steps in this direction.
