The water management of Lake Garda levels is undergoing a significant change with the implementation of an increased outflow from the regulation system located at Ponti sul Mincio, in the municipality of Monzambano. This intervention, carried out on March 21, 2025, aims to optimize water flow and ensure stability in lake levels.

Starting at 9:00 AM on March 21, the outflow from the regulating structure will increase from 55 m³/sec to 85 m³/sec. This decision was made considering the current hydrometric conditions, which already show a high level, exceeding 140 cm above the hydrometric zero.

Details on the Increase in Flow

The new outflow regime will be distributed as follows:

  • Mincio River: 80 m³/sec
  • Virgilio Canal: 0 m³/sec
  • Seriolo Canal: 5 m³/sec
  • Total: 85 m³/sec

Pierlucio Ceresa from the Garda community has communicated that this increase represents the maximum outflow currently possible. The goal is to maintain a stable water level, avoiding further rises in the coming weeks. Additionally, it is expected that there will be another increase in flow starting April 1.

Weather Conditions and Impacts

A crucial aspect for the success of this operation will be the absence of strong winds that could generate waves and negatively affect lake conditions. Careful management of water resources is essential to preserve ecological balance and ensure the safety of residents in the surrounding areas.
