Limone’s Tourism and Business Dependence on Riva Sector

Limone records a total of one million and one hundred thousand tourist arrivals per year. From February to June and from October to December, the 13,000 beds are almost exclusively occupied by agencies; during the peak months of July, August, and September, there is a good proportion of free-standing clients.

Contribution of Businesses and Hospitality

All these tourists, in order to live, depend almost exclusively on Riva. Torboli and Bonora, Pesarini, Gentilini, Bomè, Rolando Perderzolli, Segata, Bonora Ortofrutta, Martinelli, and Brao Caffè: all companies that dispatch daily trucks loaded with food, fruit and vegetables, meat, cheeses, and dairy products to hotels, which wait to turn them into lunches and dinners for their respective guests.

Construction Sector and Supplies

But that is not enough: the entire construction sector relies entirely on Riva. Some companies operate in Limone, but even supplier companies source from Trentino, with Chistè and Edilcinque being primary suppliers. Festi for curtains, dozens of artisans of various trades, carpenters, plumbers, refrigeration specialists, radio and television technicians, maintenance for various machinery; the entire package of insurance coverage for risks and damages; the supply and installation of PCs and related technologies for business management.

Economic Flows and Risks

Everything comes from Riva and all flows along the Gardesana. Doing some calculations, the arrivals are worth around 70 billion. The 100 billion from trade sectors and hotels in Tignale and Tremosine are quickly accounted for.

Natural Risks and Final Considerations

All this flow of money physically passes through the few kilometers exposed to landslide risks and the whims of the Rocchetta and its rotten limestone. Still, one hundred billion remains, not a bag of American peanuts.
