Limonese Youth Wins Letojanni Tournament in Memory of Germano Chincherini

The youth team of Limonese, reinforced by several members of Us Arco, rightfully won the football quadrangular tournament held in Letojanni, Sicily, competing for the «Memorial Germano Chincherini».

The team managed by President Mario Tombola defeated Atletico di Catania 4-2 in the final, while Don Scuderi of Gela finished third and the local Robur took fourth place. The skills of the Gardesano-Arcenses were outstanding, with goalkeeper Adami earning the award as the best player of the tournament.

The competition was organized by the Comune di Letojanni, with the support of Federcalcio di Messina, and sponsored by Rome to honor the memory of the well-known Limone hotelier who passed away in recent months.

Motivations and Celebrations

In Sicily, Germano Chincherini was nicknamed the «King of Holidays» for founding an «empire with five stars» on the island, among the most prestigious and imposing, not only in Sicily.

«The victory is meaningful – commented a delighted President Tombola – because it concerns our illustrious fellow townsman, and I thank Us Arco for contributing to this success».

The Limone and Arco boys were accompanied by a large delegation. Among the prominent figures were the provincial President of Coni, Giacomo Costa, the Federal Prosecutor of Trento, Enzo Rech, and Dr. Antonio Girardi from the Comune di Limone, as both Mayor Cav. Martinelli and his vice Risatti had had to withdraw to manage the «issue» related to the closure of Gardesana.

Us Arco, absent coach Giuliano Calzà, had sent representatives Luigi Bortolameotti and Silvano Tisi, while the Limonese staff included former President Luigi Tombola.
