Liturgical Week Highlights: Laity, Ministeriality, and Trento Tributes
The Archbishop of Trento, mons. Luigi Bressan, and mons. Luca Brandolini, president of the Centro di azione liturgica (Cal), will open the 52nd national liturgical week scheduled at the Palacongressi di Riva del Garda, in Trentino, from August 27 to 31, on a highly topical theme in the world of the Catholic church: “Laity in liturgy: what ministeriality?”.
Four days of lectures and discussions are planned, starting with mons. Brandolini’s presentation on “Ministeriality 30 Years after Ministeria Quaedam,” which aims to set the historical context of this topic, involving eminent religious figures and laypeople active in the Catholic world, who will share their direct experiences.
Schedule of Lectures and Activities
Among the scheduled presentations are those by monsignore Luciano Monari, Bishop of Piacenza-Bobbio (“From the Servant Christ to the Servant Church. The Biblical Roots of Ministeriality”), which will open the events on Tuesday, August 28.
The entire Wednesday, August 29, will be dedicated to visits to the historical and religious sites of Trento. In the morning, there will be a Eucharistic concelebration in the Cathedral, presided over by mons. Bressan, followed by visits to the Cathedral and the Underground Basilica.
In the afternoon, various Cultural itineraries are scheduled to include the Diocesan Museum, the Castello del Buonconsiglio, and the Basilica of S. Maria Maggiore, the site of the Council of Trento proceedings.
Testimonies, Provocations, and Conclusion
The following day, “testimonies and provocations” are planned in a session moderated by Don Giuseppe Busani, director of the Ufficio liturgico nazionale.
The concluding speaker will be mons. Gianfranco Ravasi, Prefect of the Biblioteca Ambrosiana in Milan, who will speak on Friday morning, August 31, about “Images and Styles in Ministeriality”.
Among the moments of reflection are the Eucharistic concelebration on Tuesday, August 28, at the church of S. Giuseppe in Riva del Garda at 6 pm, presided over by mons. Piero Marini, master of the Pontifical Liturgical Celebrations, and the Celebration of the Word titled “I am with you as one who serves,” presided over by Cardinal Silvano Piovanelli, Archbishop emeritus of Florence, scheduled for Thursday at 6:30 pm.
