The project concerning the Garda wastewater treatment plant in Lonato is at a critical stage, with a ministerial meeting set to be convened shortly to discuss the future of the initiative. On December 4, the court will convene to unify the rulings on all appeals submitted by municipalities and committees, including those from Montichiari. The aim of the treatment plant is to improve the collection of water on the Brescia side of the lake, with hopes of making up for lost time. According to Marco Zemello, director of the Ambito Office, the process could begin in the early months of 2026 with the Environmental Impact Assessment. The new facility will be built one kilometer north of the original project and will be located in open countryside, connecting to the Chiese River through a system for discharging treated water. During the summer, the treated water will be allocated for agricultural irrigation, while a partial use during winter is also being considered. The total cost of the project ranges between 240 and 250 million euros, with a significant portion allocated to the collection system. Construction will occur in phases and will initially serve 100,000 residents, eventually expanding to accommodate up to 200,000 residents at full capacity. Italian Version
