Lonato Fair Draws Growing Exhibitors and Logistical Challenges

The work of the Organizing Committee for the 43rd edition of the Regional Agricultural, Food and Wine, Craftsmanship, and Commercial Fair continues tirelessly, scheduled from January 12 to 14 in Lonato. This effort is currently receiving numerous accolades from various sectors, including the prestigious sponsorship of the Ministry for Agricultural and Forest Resources. The exhibitors themselves have overwhelmingly flocked to the available stands, indirectly creating serious logistical challenges for the organizers, led by Director Stefano Barovelli.

All spaces within the four initial tents have been fully booked, forcing President and Mayor Morando Perini, along with his assessors Paolo Marcoli and Alessandra Fontana, to find an additional area to install another pavilion in order to accommodate more exhibitors. Unsurprisingly, this new space was also quickly filled to capacity.

Currently, the organizers are seeking other suitable locations to establish new exhibition areas in an effort to meet the increasing demand. External outdoor spaces are also completely booked at this point.

Space and Activity Planning

According to Director Barovelli, the spaces allocated inside the fairs’ town center have been assigned and are being used by exhibitors from the specific sectors targeted by the Fiera di Lonato. No typical street stalls from local festivals will be set up inside the tents; instead, these will be positioned along the road connecting the fairgrounds to the town center, where, in Piazza Martiri della Libertà, a covered structure will host other Protection and Promotion Consortia of local Brescia and Gardasee products.

Schedule and Events

The schedule of events during the fair days is quite full and interesting, including a conference scheduled for 8:30 PM on Monday, January 15, at the Sala Celesti, titled “From Tarello to the Contemporary Age. The Evolution of Lombard Agriculture from 1600 to Today”. Participants will include Dr. Roberto Berveglieri, Sen. Sandro Fontana, On. Agostino Mantovani; moderated by Dr. Giambattista Lanzani, director of the “Giornale di Brescia”.

The entire event will be officially inaugurated on Friday, January 5 – starting at 8:30 PM – during the Grand Gala “Fiera di Lonato”, held at the “Teatro Italia”. The same members of the Organizing Committee will present the various fair-related events and the “Unified Issue”, a publication containing 18 articles of various genres ranging from culture and traditions to local history, curated by the mayor and Chair of the Fair Committee, Ing. Morando Perini.

During the evening, the Città di Lonato Musical Band, the choirs of the Basilica and Arcangelo of Lonato, and students from the Paolo Chimeri Music School of Lonato will perform some pieces from their respective repertoires.
