Lugana DOC Consortium Updates Statute to Strengthen Veneto Operations
During an extraordinary session attended by notary Mastrelli of Desenzano, the Assemblea del Consorzio Tutela Lugana DOC approved the new Statute. In the near future, a regulation will also be drafted, which will complement the Statute and become an integral part of it, governing the technical-administrative functioning as well as the future voting procedures of the Assembly.
Changes and Duration of the Statute
Essentially stemming from new laws, particularly Law 164/1992, which regulates the activities and responsibilities assigned to the consortia, the newly approved statute defines its duration as until 31/12/2030, unless extended or dissolved by a resolution of the Extraordinary Assembly.
Objectives and Activities of the Consortium
Among the objectives of the Consorzio Tutela Lugana is the protection, enhancement, and safeguarding of the interests related to the Denomination of Controlled Origin. To this end, the Consortium may carry out all activities and tasks assigned to Consortia by recent European legislation.
Of the 29 articles, many are deemed of general interest and correspond to those of other consortia. Particularly significant for Lugana is the possibility to open an operational office also in the Veneto territory, given that many Lugana DOC producing companies associated with the Consortium are based and operating in the Venetian region.
Recognition and Promotional Events
With this amendment, all operations of the Consortium will finally be officially recognized by Venetian entities and organizations, which until now considered the Consorzio Tutela del Lugana DOC to be exclusively under Brescia and Lombard jurisdiction.
Recently, numerous events and promotional activities organized by the Chamber of Commerce of Verona have taken place. Although initially informal due to the absence of a formal statute, the Consortium participated and achieved notable successes.
Participations have included the first edition of China Wein in Shanghai, and the presentation of Veneto wines in London. These are some of the recent promotional initiatives that the Consortium has undertaken in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Verona and the Veneto Region.
Future Perspectives and Objectives
In the future, once the Venetian operational office becomes fully functional, cooperation opportunities will undoubtedly increase. This goal, desired and achieved by the president himself, avv. Francesco Ghiraldi, aims to give Lugana producers in Veneto the appropriate representation.
A Interregional Consortium that, transcending borders, can operate in perfect harmony and alignment with both regional realities. The previous Statute was approved in May 1995, while the new one has been immediately enacted, regulating all activities of the Consortium from now on.
