Lugana DOC Gains Global Recognition from Top Wine Guides and Experts

In 1999 as well, the Lugana DOC received significant attention from leading Italian wine guides. Recommendations, mentions, reviews, and all other recognitions that affirm this particular Garda DOC wine as, rightly, one of the best Italian wines and among the most appreciated worldwide.

In recent weeks, almost all major guides have been presented and released to the market, such as the Michelin, which for the first time after 44 years of publication included Lugana DOC in the map of Italy’s main wines.

The Guida al vino quotidiano published by Slow Food, and showcased at the recent Salone del Gusto in Turin, lists the 2,500 best Italian wines. Among these, Lugana DOC is represented with 16 wineries.

Recognition by Experts and Specialized Guides

Luigi Veronelli, the master and father of Italian enology, renowned and appreciated worldwide, mentions 5 Lugana DOC wines in his Guida Oro. Meanwhile, Luca Maroni highlights 25 Lugana DOC wines in his Guida dei vini italiani 1999 as the most pleasurable options. Among these, 3 are noted as Brut.

Lastly, the annual edition of Vini d’Italia by Gambero Rosso features 20 Lugana wines, many of which, besides being listed among the new entries, have been awarded the highly coveted two glasses.

The Constant Commitment of Producers and Future Perspectives

A strong presence that underscores the continuous dedication of Lugana producers and winemakers — affirms Avv. Francesco Ghiraldi, president of the Consorzio Tutela Lugana DOC — in the professionalism of their work. This milestone is not intended as a final achievement but as a new starting point towards increasingly better production, especially appreciated in national and international markets.

It is important to remember — states President Ghiraldi — that Lugana DOC has managed to establish itself on global markets in recent years, partly thanks to the efforts made by the Consorzio itself, which invested in extensive promotion through participation in the most important and frequented international wine fairs.

For example, we recently participated in China, a presence we will surely repeat this year. Not to mention upcoming international events in Bordeaux and Düsseldorf (March 21-23, ed.).
