To commemorate the 80th anniversary of the Liberation, the figure of Mario Boldini was remembered. A partisan of the Green Flames, he was executed in Gargnano on January 14, 1944. At just 21 years old, Boldini, originally from Ospitaletto Bresciano and serving in the Air Force, joined the “Tito Speri Brigade” after September 8, actively participating in the partisan Resistance in a context marked by logistical difficulties and significant risks. His capture occurred following an operation to recover supplies parachuted in by the Allies, intended for local partisan groups; however, he was arrested along with other comrades and sentenced to death.
On the day of his execution, fascist forces took him to the Casèl dela Tor, where the tragic event unfolded in front of his comrades. Only in May 1945 was his body buried with honors in the local cemetery. In recognition of his sacrifice, the Municipal Council of Gargnano decided to dedicate a square at the entrance of the town to him. This remembrance highlights the importance of historical memory related to the partisan Resistance and the events that have profoundly shaped the local community.
