The Provincial Council of Trento has officially announced the appointment of Micol Forti as the new director of the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art of Trento and Rovereto (Mart), effective from December 1, 2025. President Maurizio Fugatti, along with Culture Councillor Francesca Gerosa, emphasized the importance of the Mart as a cultural reference point and expressed confidence in Forti’s leadership, which is expected to bring an innovative vision to strengthen the museum’s role on an international level.
Micol Forti, an art historian with two decades of experience in the museum sector, currently heads the 19th and Contemporary Art Department at the Vatican Museums. She has curated significant international projects and boasts a successful career in both academia and curation, including participation in the Venice Biennials. Her appointment marks a significant step for the Mart, promising an expansion of cultural offerings for both citizens and visitors.
