The Treccani Prize, dedicated to contemporary art, is celebrating its fifty-year history this year with an exhibition inaugurated on Friday, May 2nd at 5 PM at the Civic Gallery of Montichiari. The event commemorates the centenary of the founding of the Treccani Encyclopedia Institute and represents an important cultural initiative that has seen the participation of renowned artists throughout its 23 editions, from 1960 to 2017. Mayor Marco Togni and Cultural Councillor Martina Varone emphasized the historical significance of the prize, highlighting how Montichiari has become a cultural reference point, thanks in part to the legacy left by Count Giovanni Treccani degli Alfieri.
The exhibition offers visitors the opportunity to admire works donated by the award-winning artists over the years, contributing to the creation of a significant contemporary art collection for the city. The displayed works include painting, sculpture, photography, and video, representing various artistic movements of the 20th century. The exhibition will be open to the public free of charge on weekends from May 3rd to 25th, from 3 PM to 6 PM.
