A tragic motorcycle accident occurred in Lonato on Thursday morning, involving 16-year-old Matteo Tobanelli. The young man was riding his Yamaha R125 along the SP25 when he lost control of the vehicle during an overtaking maneuver. The motorcycle swerved and collided with a BMW driven by a 50-year-old man, who was uninjured. Despite the impact being relatively mild, Matteo was thrown onto the asphalt and sustained severe injuries, including head trauma. Emergency services responded promptly, but by the time they arrived, the boy was already in cardiac arrest.
He was rushed to the hospital, but unfortunately, Matteo passed away shortly after. Police officers confirmed that there was no fault on the part of the motorist involved, and currently, there are no investigations for vehicular manslaughter. A local resident, Matteo would have turned 17 next October and was passionate about sailing and traveling with his family. His untimely death has caused profound grief in the local community and among his loved ones, who are now arranging his funeral.
