Municipal Piers Removed for Safety, Future Lake Beach and Walkway Plans

Gone are the hazardous piers. In their place, following the alarm raised by some concerned tourists about the safety of those stepping onto them and reported by L’Arena, only a few wooden poles remain. These poles supported the transverse planks of the walkways along the promenade leading to Villa Pergolana from the Lazise dock, between the localities of Taoli and Esperia.

To be fair, one pier remains intact and usable. It is a structure still in good condition, located very close to the municipal camping site and adjacent to the breakwater of the small dock basin.

Recently, workers from a specialized company removed the piers under the direction of the municipal administration. The removal operations were necessary and urgent to ensure the safety of pedestrians and bathers in the pedestrian zone near the municipal camping site.

Future Projects and New Interventions

Soon, following a complete refurbishment, the piers will be relocated to continue offering tourists a sort of service for lake diving and to better appreciate the beauty of the area.

The entire expense will be borne by the municipal administration, which has decided to use part of the regional funding allocated through the contribution provided in response to the heavy snowfall of last winter.

In the adjacent area near the dock, in the water space opposite the municipal camping site, the administration also plans to create a sort of artificial beach.

The project is currently under review by a dedicated commission and is expected to be realized at the beginning of the next tourist season, in 2002.

It would cover approximately 150 meters in length, with a layout of sand and gravel, allowing many bathers to enjoy a kind of shoreline, even if artificial, avoiding the extensive paving used for beaches, which would hinder passage for those wishing to continue walking toward Cisano and Bardolino.

The site will undergo a complete transformation, with new urban furniture and structures to improve usability for bathers and the numerous tourists visiting the area.
