This morning, Tuesday, February 11, the trial began in Puegnago for the murder of Santina Delai, which took place in February of last year. The defendant, Mauro Pedrotti, 57 years old, is accused of strangling his 78-year-old mother with a kitchen towel in her home. After the crime, Pedrotti went to work as if nothing had happened and attempted to convince law enforcement that it was a robbery that ended tragically. However, the truth came to light during a lengthy interrogation, at the end of which he confessed to the murder.
During the opening of the trial at the Brescia Assize Court, it was revealed that no family members of the victim have chosen to join the proceedings as civil parties. Pedrotti faces charges of aggravated murder due to premeditation and his familial relationship with the victim, as well as for having taken advantage of her advanced age and diminished ability to defend herself.
