The MuSa Salò closure is already in effect: the city museum shut its doors on Sunday 4 October 2026, ahead of renovation works, and is due to reopen in the spring of 2027. Visitors planning a stop in Salò this autumn and winter will not be able to visit it.
A Season That Drew 18,588 Visitors
Between 1 January and 4 October 2026, the museum recorded 18,588 visitors over 210 days of opening, 32% of them from abroad. It also welcomed 2,650 students in 100 school classes. The final weeks of the season included the closing concert and hat party for the TOURIST! exhibition.
€800,000 for Renovation and Fire Safety
The Municipality of Salò has set aside €800,000 for the works, which also cover the building’s fire-safety certification, now at its ten-year expiry. The interventions concern the whole building and include stronger fire resistance for the walls and ceilings of the storage rooms, updated display materials, maintenance of the fire detection and suppression systems, replacement of some windows on the top floor and repairs to the plaster.
Inside, the entrance and ticket office will be reconfigured. The arcades facing the cloister will be visible again, and the cloister will be directly accessible from the galleries, even without visiting the exhibitions.
What Is Planned for 2027
The 2027 programme includes a large exhibition on early nineteenth-century French floral painting, with more than fifty canvases, a solo show by Andrea Bianconi and a retrospective of Carla Badiali.
