NATO Bombs in Lake Garda Spark Environmental and Radiation Concerns
The controversy surrounding the case of Italian soldiers allegedly falling ill due to depleted uranium radiation during the conflict in the former Yugoslavia has brought renewed attention to the bombs dropped into Lake Garda by a NATO aircraft during a military operation.
The Lega Nord del Trentino has reignited the focus on this incident by submitting a parliamentary question to the President of the Trentino regional council, Lorenzo Dellai.
“We want to know — write the three provincial councilors Divina, Bertolini, and Boso — what measures have been taken to resolve the issue. Specifically, whether the recovery of unexploded ordnance has been completed, whether analyses have been conducted to detect radiation, and whether the presence of the bombs has caused environmental damage.”
