Neighborhood watch in Desenzano: new strategies for urban safety

The Municipal Council of Desenzano del Garda has recently approved the “Neighborhood Watch” project, aimed at enhancing urban safety through the active collaboration of citizens. This program, the result of a Memorandum of Understanding with the Prefecture of Brescia, encourages residents to observe and report unusual situations without intervening directly. Seven areas of the municipality have been identified where control groups can be formed, coordinated by representatives who will serve as a link to the Local Police. Mayor Guido Malinverno emphasized the social importance of the initiative, highlighting how it can strengthen the sense of community and shared responsibility. The Councilor for Security, Pietro Avanzi, added that this project does not replace law enforcement but supports them through a conscious civic network. In the coming weeks, public meetings are planned to present the initiative, gather participants, and train coordinators, thereby making the project operational throughout the municipal territory.
