A new multifunctional hub of the Italian Red Cross will be established in Solferino, an ambitious project aimed at becoming a national reference point for volunteer activities and civil protection. The municipal council, led by Mayor Germano Bignotti, has recently approved the proposal from the Red Cross, officially initiating the process for land acquisition and the necessary agreements. This hub, covering an area of approximately 55,000 square meters, will operate year-round and host training, preparation, and emergency response activities.
Additionally, the new site will annually host the traditional volunteer camp during the torchlight procession that celebrates the birth of the Red Cross idea in Solferino. This year, the event will take place this evening, Saturday, June 21, promising a unique atmosphere illuminated by thousands of torches. With this initiative, Solferino reaffirms its significance in the history and operations of the Italian Red Cross, further solidifying its strategic role at the national level.
