New rules for bicycles and electric vehicles in Lazise

Lazise has recently adopted a new ordinance to regulate the transit of bicycles and electric vehicles in the Urban Pedestrian Area (APU) and Limited Traffic Zone (ZTL). The ordinance, signed by the Mayor with number 66 of 2023, introduces stringent measures to ensure safety and urban decorum.

The regulations include a ban on transit for all types of bicycles, including electric scooters and other predominantly electric personal mobility devices such as Segways, hoverboards, and monowheels. Additionally, there is an obligation to walk bicycles within designated areas.

Another key point of the ordinance concerns vehicle parking. It is mandatory to park in specially equipped areas with bike racks. This provision aims to prevent the disorderly abandonment of vehicles that could hinder pedestrian passage or compromise urban aesthetics.

There are some exceptions to the new rules. Residents of the Municipality of Lazise, bicycles used for public utility services such as municipal messengers or urban cleanliness, and guests of accommodation facilities located within the restricted areas are exempt from the restrictions.

These provisions regarding the manual operation of vehicles were already provided for in the Highway Code, but the ordinance now explicitly applies them to pedestrian areas and ZTLs in the municipality.

For further details, the ordinance number 66/2023 can be consulted directly on the official website of the Municipality of Lazise.
