Padenghe Urban Revamp: New Connections, Parking, and Green Spaces

Work is progressing swiftly on the initiatives that the Municipal Administration of Padenghe has prepared to make the various entities within the historic urban center and the surrounding areas more livable and, most importantly, more connected.

Connections and parking

Great attention has been given to the pedestrian link from and to the magnificent castle that overlooks and dominates both the entire settlement and a large part of Lake Garda in the middle and lower basin.

In these days, a parking lot with a total capacity of 32 spaces is being built in the area facing the castle’s entrance, within the numerous interventions planned by the Executive led by Mayor Fabio Beretta, aimed at reclaiming certain areas.

Several sections of pedestrian paths are also nearing completion, connecting the historic center to the castle by climbing along the castle’s coastline.

It is a truly beautiful walk immersed in the greenery surrounding the entire hilltop on which the restored fortress stands.

Landscaping and structural interventions

An intervention of significant importance and consistent with the renovations already carried out in the area,” – states Mayor Beretta – “all made within the landscape and environmental context and respecting local surroundings.

This is a theme on which the Administration has always focused the utmost attention, both concerning the natural beauty of the locations and the numerous historical references that characterize the entire municipal territory.”

Requalification project

The project includes the creation of a parking lot with green areas inserted within the slopes below, which in a second phase will be fitted out with suitable urban furniture such as benches, trash bins, etc.

The parking lot will be constructed using river cobblestones and “running” porphyry tiles to outline the access road, while the parking spaces will be in green blok.

The paths will also be made of cobblestones and porphyry, with accessible steps made of porphyry tiles and cobblestones, reinforced by a special curb along the top of the embankment.

Rainwater runoff will be conveyed into the sewer system through drainage systems, and along the adjacent pedestrian trail, eventually leading to the underground sewer network.

All components, including parking lots and paths, will be fully illuminated to create an evocative night scene with impressive visual and scenic effects.

Costs and planning

Finally, and it is worth emphasizing, the entire project, with an estimated base bid cost of approximately 210 million euros, has been fully designed by the municipal technical office, ensuring significant savings in both time and, above all, public funds.
