Pasina Traffic Monitoring and Safety Upgrades Approved by City Council

Dark times for those who do not respect the traffic code in the Pasina area, which has been the subject of protests by residents and a question from the Green group in the city council in recent weeks. In the new General Public Works Plan, which will be presented to the council alongside the budget in the coming weeks, the Malossini administration has included a specific chapter that, among other measures, plans the installation of dedicated cameras along via Pasina, via Venezia, and via Primo Maggio.

The footage captured by these cameras, which are intended to operate 24 hours a day, should allow authorities to “catch” drivers who violate the traffic regulations.

The first hotspot targeted by the project, provided the proposal remains in the plan approval stage, is certainly Pasina. If approved, the implementation could begin, at worst, by the start of next autumn.

Subsequently, attention will shift to via Venezia and via Primo Maggio.

For these areas, new smart traffic light systems are also planned, which will slow traffic and/or include pedestrian crossing calls, as well as devices to assist visually impaired pedestrians.

A traffic light is scheduled at the S. Tomaso locality, in Pasina, at the intersection between via Chiesa Vecchia and via Nuova.

Two billion euros—also included in the 2002 budget—are allocated for the construction of a sidewalk along the provincial road of Le Grazie, again in the Pasina area, with the rectification of the existing road layout, particularly around the bridge.
