Phone Scams Impersonate Carabinieri Offering Fake Magazine Subscriptions

They impersonate Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shopkeepers, artisans, and restaurateurs in the central and upper Garda area, offering magazine subscriptions related to the armed forces.

They are not military personnel, but scammers who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance police, the police, the fire brigade, or the municipal police.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or those that have nothing to do with law enforcement agencies.

Therefore, stay alert and immediately contact the real Carabinieri — just dial 112 — as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by someone who, after collecting the money, disappears.
