Police Impersonators Targeting Garda Business Owners: How to Recognize and React

They pose as Carabinieri when making phone calls to hoteliers, shop owners, artisans, and restaurant operators in the Middle and Upper Garda area, offering subscriptions to magazines of the corps.

In reality, they are fraudsters who, from time to time, claim to belong to the finance department, police, fire brigade, or municipal officers.

How to recognize scams and how to react

They often propose subscriptions to nonexistent magazines or magazines unrelated to law enforcement forces.

So be cautious and immediately notify the real Carabinieri – just dial 112 – as soon as you suspect you have been targeted by individuals who, after taking the money, disappear.
